HER x ALBA x CCSMILE事事樂 on 13 Feb 2026 Small Electronics Maintenance Awareness Training

The collaboration between Household Electronics Reborn (HER), ALBA and CCSmile brings together community repair, large‑scale recycling infrastructure and front‑line social support into one joined‑up response. HER focuses on repairing, cleaning and safety‑checking small household appliances so that they can be redistributed to families who have lost or cannot afford essential items, turning “waste” into safe, functional resources embedded in the community. ALBA contributes its system‑level strengths in logistics, regulated e‑waste treatment, and material recovery, ensuring that non‑repairable appliances are collected and processed responsibly rather than going to landfills. CCSmile, working closely with affected residents and local networks, identifies the most urgent household needs, coordinates referrals and distribution, and provides ongoing psychosocial or community support. By combining these complementary roles, the partnership can respond faster and more accurately after crises or in low‑income neighbourhoods: CCSmile understands who needs what, HER prepares fit‑for‑purpose repaired appliances, and ALBA manages safe recycling for what cannot be saved. Together, they create a practical “repair–reuse–recycle” loop that restores basic living conditions for vulnerable families, reduces electronic waste, and strengthens community resilience and dignity.

This “Electricity Safety” talk, supported by CCSMILE and ALBA and delivered by HER’s technical trainer, helped participants translate abstract electrical principles into concrete, life‑saving habits. By understanding how mains electricity, body resistance, current strength, contact time and current path affect electric shock, attendees gained a clearer sense of why small actions—such as drying hands before touching switches, never using power when showering, and always cutting off power before inspection—are critical for preventing serious injury.

The session also equipped participants with practical knowledge on personal protective equipment (PPE), correct use of BS 1363 three‑pin plugs, and the safety features of double‑insulated appliances. These skills help families and frontline workers reduce the risk of accidents at home and in the community. In the longer term, better awareness of safe electricity use can lower medical and repair costs, reduce downtime caused by incidents, and support a culture of responsible, safe use of household appliances—laying the foundation for broader work on repair, reuse and resource conservation.
